Monday marks final day to file taxes

With Tax Day arriving on April 18, the deadline to file taxes is coming fast.
News 12 spoke to the New York State Department of Taxation ahead of Monday’s deadline and they offered several tips.
As of last week, the IRS says they have already received more than 70 million refunds.
For those that have yet to file their taxes, The Department of Taxation says the easiest way to do it is through their website. 
The department says that whether the filer is doing the paperwork on their own or through a preparer, the documents are the same. The basic information like W2’s and any other documents that would support your claims of credits that the filer is entitled to.
Two important tax credits that taxpayers should pay attention to include the earned income tax credit and the childcare credit.
If filing by the Monday deadline is not possible, there is an option to file for an extension.
