Morrisania tenants struggle with elevator, hot water issues
Families in a South Bronx building say they are fed up with the lack of a functioning elevator in their building.
Tenants at 1200 Union Ave. say the elevator has been out of service since October. They say it’s a safety hazard for older tenants.
The Morrisana building has only one elevator for the five-story residence.
According to the Department of Building's website, the property currently has a Class 1 violation, which is considered the most hazardous of the building codes.
Just this week, the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development received a host of heat and hot water complaints from tenants. They say it’s been going on for more than a week.
News 12 reached out to Kraus Management about their concerns. The company says a temporary boiler is being installed and should be up and running. It said the elevator company is working to restore service to elevator as soon as possible.
