A Brooklyn mother claims her 6-month-old baby was badly burned at an East New York day care center and is now hospitalized.

Yameila Collington is currently being treated in a Manhattan Hospital for second-degree burns, according to her mother Shanice Hogan.

Hogan says that on Friday, the baby's father picked their children from Angel Zone Daycare on Linwood Street. Shortly after, she says they discovered that parts of her stomach, backside and legs were covered in burns with skin peeling off.

Hogan says they got a text from the caregiver of the day care, explaining, "I put her in the bathroom sink just to wash her off because she was a mess down there... I turned the faucets too quick with her in the sink and the hot water touched her. I can't tell you how sorry I am."

The baby's parents say they're angry that the caregiver didn't immediately get their daughter medical attention.

Police say the Brooklyn Special Victims Unit child squad is investigating.

A spokesperson from the Administration for Children's Services tells News 12 in a statement, "Our top priority is protecting the safety and wellbeing of all children in New York City. ACS and DOHMH are investigating this incident."

The parents say their other children have also attended the day care and never had any issues before, but now don't feel comfortable sending them there again.
