Many with plans to dine in City Island, a popular Bronx spot for Mother's Day, turned around before getting to their destination due to heavy traffic.

Cars lined up by the dozens to get a good water view and a Mother's Day meal on Sunday.

City Island is a very popular Mother's Day spot not only because of the view but also the variety of restaurants available.

The traffic was backed up to Pelham Bay Park throughout the day. Much of that traffic was created because there is only one way in and one way out of the island.
