An MTA service change may help Co-op City residents concerned that there is too much traffic congestion in the area since the Mall at Bay Plaza opened last year.
The MTA says the Bx5 bus will now stop at the mall on weekends.
Some residents are excited about the change, saying they won't have to pay for parking or deal with the traffic.
Other residents say the city should be doing even more to help with transportation issues in the area, and that the roads are the root of the problem.
"There will be a traffic issue regardless," said one resident. "There's only one way to get in and out of Co-op City. Infrastructure right now has to be the main focus."
The MTA says the extended route will cost $300,000 annually.
