Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials say all employees of the agency will be able to get a coronavirus vaccine at the agency's Brooklyn headquarters. 

Pat Foye, chairman of the MTA, says that starting on Wednesday their employee vaccination program will be up and running in Downtown Brooklyn. 

He says it’s a way to increase vaccine access to those who are looking to get a shot, by making the site specifically available to them. 

This is all part of a partnership with Mobile Health. The chairman says they expect to administer about 200 doses a day, or 1,000 a week. 

According to Foye, there are already around 10,000 shots that have been administered to MTA employees around the city. 

Now they have another 10,000 employees signed up to get the vaccine through their portal. 

Sarah Feinberg, interim president of the MTA, says the site will be open for vaccinations from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday through Sunday. 

She says it was important to have the site open on weekends so employees can make it work with their schedules. 

"We recognize that some of our colleagues may be hesitant about getting the vaccine, but the data has been quite clear. The CDC and other public health experts agree that the available vaccines are safe and effective at minimizing the severe risk of illness and I will be getting my first dose to show that myself,” said Foye. 

MTA employees are not required to go through the vaccine hub to get the shot. MTA officials say it is just an opportunity to provide another access point for them to get it.
