MTA officials: Ironworker electrocuted while working on Third Track project

MTA officials say a crew was putting up a pedestrian bridge when a crane encountered a high-voltage line. The ironworker was on the bridge at the time.

An ironworker was electrocuted while working on the Third Track project in Nassau County on Saturday.
News 12 was told the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at the Mineola Long Island Rail Road station.
MTA officials say a contract construction crew was putting up a pedestrian bridge when a crane encountered a high-voltage line. The ironworker was on the bridge at the time.
She was rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition. The MTA has launched an investigation into the incident and all work on the project has stopped.
