Commuters are getting a little more time to budget their trips.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is putting planned fare hikes on hold. Officials made the announcement on Monday.
Officials stated that the fare hikes will not be happening this year.
The MTA says the move is being done in order to allow commuters to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
The agency’s board had planned a fare hike for subways, buses and trains that would go into effect this November.
The MTA says the hikes will now be set for some time in 2022.
