A new report on climate change claims there is a significant risk of crisis as early as 2040.
According to the United Nations’ scientific panel on climate change, we have only 12 years to make drastic changes to greenhouse gas emissions.
The 700-page report claims at the current rate, the atmosphere temperature will rise as much as 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit by 2040.
The panel claims as a result of the temperature increase, widespread wildfires, intense droughts, death of the ocean's coral reef as well as floods and mass poverty will occur.
To prevent the crisis the report says pollution must fall below 45 percent from 2010 levels by 2030 and 100 percent by the year 2050.
Scientists are sighted as saying the standards are unlikely to happen without advancements in technology which removes greenhouse gases from the air.
However, no such technology has been invented.
