Neighbors and activists gathered in East Flatbush Sunday to show their support for Haiti and the Haitian diaspora in New York City.
The United States national anthem echoed through the streets of Brooklyn followed by the Haitian national anthem, as activists and politicians gathered to pray for the country and all the struggles that Haitians face today.
Those struggles include the pandemic, continued recovery from national disasters and overwhelming national debt, as well as the shocking, recent assassination of the Haitian president.
Many Haitian Americans have contributed so much to the United States, and Haiti's history is a symbol of perseverance despite so much adversity.
Many of the activists are calling for the Haitian diaspora in New York City to unite and find creative ways to help Haiti.
