Community members in Claremont stood outside of 1365 Findlay Ave. on Tuesday after a fire ripped through homes and businesses just one day before.
The FDNY confirms the fire started around 3 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5.
It took the effort of over 100 firefighters to battle the flames that lasted four hours.
"I cried and I will keep crying because we were prepared to start the new year with so much energy," said business owner Rosa Villamar.
Villamar is the owner of Coffee and Donut. Her business of more than 20 years is now forced to close its doors indefinitely because of the fire.
Villamar said the business had supported her family over the years, and it was a dream job.
Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson and city officials were at the scene of the rubble and charred remains to examine the area and try to determine what comes next.
"We are in this period of cleanup now. We are making sure that the building is structurally, sound, in preparation for some of the residents being able to come back and retrieve some of their items," said Gibson.
Meanwhile, the Department of Buildings announced a full vacate order for tenants in the building.
The efforts of firefighters were delayed because three cars blocked fire hydrants.
The FDNY told News 12 blocking a hydrant can result in a summons, with fines of up to $5,000.
