A former CVS store has become a dumping ground for trash, according to nearby residents, who asked News 12 to investigate who's responsible for cleaning up the site.
Broken glass and other trash litters the ground around the Burke Avenue building in plain sight, despite efforts to find a sub-tenant to take over. Neighbors of the shuttered shop call it an eyesore.
Neighbor David Mendez, who says he has lived nearby since 1979, calls the situation a shame.
"It brings the area down," he says. "It's disgusting."
CVS, which does not own the property, told News 12 in a statement, "We were not aware of the conditions at the site. While we do not own this property, we are taking immediate steps to have it cleaned and maintained. As you may know, the site is also being actively marketed to find a sub-tenant to take over the space."
