Neighbors say an abandoned parking lot outside a former CVS in Olinville is an eye sore and a safety hazard.
People say the area around White Plains Road and Burke Avenue is harmed by the boarded-up building that has been closed since the roof collapsed in 2014.
Now, neighbors say the surrounding parking lot is a breeding ground for trouble with trash, burned-out cars, and at least three late-night parties in the last month.
The problem in getting the situation cleaned up lies on the property owners. A Department of Sanitation citation on the door of the building from last weeks names Vele Bros. Burke Corp. as the building owner.
News 12 was not able to reach the building owner, and did not hear back from the leasing agent listed on the side of the building.
Even though CVS only leased the property, they said in a statement, "We have directed the landscaping/maintenance agency to expedite the weekly site cleaning work at this property. The agency is also working to get the cars towed this week, and is exploring barrier options to prevent cars from being abandoned there in the future."
The Department of Sanitation says it is also investigating the situation.
