New legislation is being introduced to protect children in child care facilities from opioid exposure.

This comes after 1-year-old Nicholas Feliz Dominici was killed by a fentanyl overdose in a Bronx day care.

The bill aims to ensure transparency and that the right training and education are given to inspectors to stop these preventable deaths.

"Our hearts are in pain," said Otoniel Feliz, dad of Nicholas Dominici. "We feel the same because this horrible thing doesn't go out of the mind, and then it's impossible for us to find a way to live with this pain."

He added that although many organizations have reached out to provide aid, he is still awaiting justice.
