More coronavirus vaccination sites
are opening across the city, especially in neighborhoods hit hardest by the
pandemic.
The state is opening four new
vaccination in Brooklyn and four in the Bronx, some of which are already up and
running.
The Carey Gardens Cornerstone
Community Center in Coney Island has become a vaccination site to give vaccines
to New York City Housing Authority senior residents.
Other vaccination sites
opening this weekend include the Edenwald Houses and the Bartow Community
Center in the Bronx.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo also says
that Yankee Stadium in the Bronx will turn into a vaccinate sites specifically
for Bronx residents as the positivity rate in the borough is at 6.93%.
In total, New York is hoping
to expand its vaccination efforts to more than 33 NYCHA senior housing
developments across the city and 300 churches and cultural centers.
One NYCHA resident who
received her vaccine says she is just happy that the vaccine is accessible.
The process is part of Cuomo’s
effort to ensure fairness and equity to underserved neighborhoods during the
vaccination process.
