Indoor shopping malls across the Garden State will be allowed to reopen Monday.

Gov. Phil Murphy's order will go into effect at 6 a.m. tomorrow.

Retail businesses located in the interior of malls are permitted to open to the public as long as they comply with the requirements set by the state.

Retail kiosks located within malls will also be allowed to open.

Restaurants within the interior of a mall will still be restricted to offering takeout and delivery services. They may provide in-person service at areas that are outside of the mall.

Shoppers and employees are required to practice social distancing and wear a mask. If a customer refuses to wear a cloth face covering for non-medical reasons and if such covering cannot be provided to the individual by the mall at the point of entry, the mall must decline entry to the individual.

Mall operators must also require infection control practices like providing employees sanitization materials and break time to wash their hands.

Many stores will also operate at 50% capacity.

The Garden State Plaza Mall, Bergen Town Center and Paramus Park Mall will reopen Monday with limited hours and capacity.

Paramus Mayor Richard LaBarbiera says the temporary closures have impacted a variety of aspects in the community.

"The three major malls are the anchors to the entire retail market along four and 17 and our tax base is made up of up of approximately 50% of commercial properties it has a value and has a value of about $5 billion dollars," says LaBarbiera

Community leaders say the Garden State Plaza Mall brings in over 22 million visitors a year.

Gyms, movie theaters, amusement parks and arcades inside malls will remain closed.
