The state's Cannabis Regulatory Commission had planned to have marijuana for sale by Feb. 22, but the deadline has been missed.
At the commission meeting on Thursday, the executive director said there are "major deficiencies" in some of the applications for medical marijuana dispensaries.
"There's a level of frustration here at the Commission, certainly with me, certainly with staff and others, that you know there's an effort to pressure us to move forward in a way that's not compliant with the law. And that's just simply not going to happen," says Cannabis Regulatory Commission Executive Director Jeff Brown.
By the end of June, the head of the New Jersey Cannabusiness Association says he remains optimistic the public will be able to buy legal recreational pot.
