A new mural of Pop Smoke is being painted in Canarsie as the community continues to mourn the loss of the Brooklyn rapper who was shot to death. 

The eight-foot-tall mural is stretched across the wall of a building on 80th Street and Flatlands. 

Altidor says he painted the mural as a way to honor the young rapper, but that with the recent rise in shootings in the city, he says he also wants to send a message to end gun violence.

 "Whenever you passing by -- they see this mural, I want them to remember it's all about love. We need unity. We need peace,” said Altidor. 

Canarsie residents also came out to assist Altidor in painting the mural. 

Altidor also painted a George Floyd mural on the same wall in July. He says his next mural will be of one-year-old Davell Gardener, who was shot and killed last month. 

Altidor says he's planning an unveiling ceremony next week once the mural is completely finished and he's hoping to bring out the community, elected officials and Pop Smoke's family.
