New walk-in testing sites are opened Friday throughout the city. 

A location has been set up in Morrisania to help Bronx residents whose neighborhoods have been hit hard by the coronavirus.

The testing site is located in the parking lot of NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health Morrisania along Gerard Avenue.

People looking to get tested can call 311 to make an appointment or can walk in. The Morrisania location is one of several walk-in testing sites across the city that have been set up.

The testing sites have been placed in areas that have dealt with the hardest impact.

There have also been several drive-thru testing sites operating throughout the city, but not as many walk-in sites, which has been a problem since many New Yorkers do not own cars.

Another walk-in site will also be opening in East New York, Brooklyn. Mayor Bill de Blasio says the city hopes to have 24,000 tests available every week.

The Morrisania testing site will be operating Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Patients 65 or older with pre-existing conditions will be tested first.
