Family and friends of the young lives lost to gun violence walked together from Walt Whitman Park and across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Vanessa Graham, mother of 18-year-old Adriana, spoke with News 12 about her experience losing her daughter on May 4.
“She was getting ready to graduate in June,” said Graham. “I feel for any parent who lost their child. That’s a pain no mother should go through.”
The marchers gathered with their own individual stories and experiences, but shared the same message about making a stand to end gun violence.
“Everybody’s affected,” said Tiasha Forrest, who lost her son Russell to gun violence two years ago. “When you hear of a parent losing their child, it hurts your heart.”
The group plans on making today’s walk an annual event.
