The newest class of NYPD recruits graduated Monday - and did so without one of their colleagues. Edgar Ordonez, 33, died last week during training.
That loss was fresh on the minds of everyone in attendance, including Mayor Eric Adams, who walked to Ordonez’s family and extended his condolences before addressing graduating officers.
“I just wanted to share with them in a very real way, of how much his loss impacted us all,” Adams told those in attendance.
Memorial services are scheduled to begin Wednesday in The Bronx. A funeral for Ordonez is set for Thursday.
