“Juneteenth NY” hosted the
Juneteenth NYC Awards in Gershwin Park on Saturday. News 12’s Phil Taitt
was among those being honored at the ceremony.
Organizers of the event say they aim to shed a light on people
who have made an impact in their communities.
Taitt said it was an honor to be recognized for the work he
does.
“It means so much to me, I’m being honored for the stories I
get to tell here in Brooklyn, especially since growing up here I get to tell
the stories that affect us each day. I hope that the kids watching will be inspired and know that they can achieve success too,”
said Taitt.
The Juneteenth
celebration will end with a concert in Prospect Park on Sunday.
