Advocates for nonviolence are dubbing Tuesday National Public Safety Honor Day to pay thanks to law enforcement officers.
The group Peace December marched from its headquarters in Parkchester to the 43rd Precinct building two miles away to deliver flowers to police there.
Last month, the precinct lost veteran Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo, who died in a gunfight with a suspect. The suspect was also killed.
Peace December says that showing appreciation toward police officers helps build a relationship with the community. They urge residents everywhere to thank the police officers in their own neighborhoods.
