Norwalk police: 3 men assaulted, stole from taxi driver & refused to pay fare

Three men are facing charges after they refused to pay a taxi fare, assaulted and stole from the driver, Norwalk police say.
It happened Thursday night at the Citgo gas station on Connecticut Avenue.
Police say the driver was punched and hit with a gas station squeegee and required medical attention for lacerations to the left side of his face.
An investigation confirmed the group refused to pay their cab fare, assaulted the driver and stole personal items from the driver that were in the cab.

Harris used that to strike the window of the car, police say.
Police say officers tried to remove the piece from Harris' grasp and one officer suffered numerous abrasions to his forearm when Harris swung the piece around. Harris also spit on the outer vest carrier of another officer on scene.
Once Harris was at a holding facility, he was moved to several different cells because he damaged two separate security cameras and ripped them from the ceilings of each cell.
Harris was charged with assaulting a police officer, interfering with a police officer and criminal mischief.
Two additional suspects, 23-year-old Christophe Bunting, of Stamford and 19-year-old Cory Hampton, of Long Island City, were each charged with assault and breach of peace.
All three are expected to appear in court on May 12.
