New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings visited Hunts Point Elementary School Monday to promote literacy.
The Rashad Jennings Reading Challenge is a monthlong program that encourages students to read as many books as possible.
"I struggled with reading. I grew up with a reading comprehension deficient," Jennings says. "What I'm trying to do is kind of unmask the NFL and say 'here's my struggles, don't be ashamed of it.'"
Students who excel in the program will receive autographed items from the New York Giants.
The reading challenge will also be held at five other Bronx schools this month.
