New York officially joined 22 other states that allow the legal sale and use of medical marijuana Thursday.
Of four dispensaries in New York City, one is in the Bronx.
The Bronx dispensary will be in Hunts Point at 405 Hunts Point Ave. It's still under construction, and work is expected to last for several more months.
To purchase medical marijuana legally, the state requires medical marijuana users to obtain a recognized doctor's prescription. The prescription will specify a dosage and details about the specific illness being treated.
Buyers will need to show a dispensary ID, and the dispensaries will only sell marijuana in pill and liquid form.
