The New York City Comedy Festival will be coming to the Bronx for the very first time.
Ben Asher has been a comedian for the past decade, and has always felt that the Bronx was missing something.
“It’s like the rest of New York City,” said Asher. “But people don’t often think of the Bronx as a great place to go out for entertainment and culture.”
In February, Asher decided to bring that entertainment to Clinton Hall on Arthur Avenue, which he says has been a hit.
“We’ve got people who live nearby, and they come in and they're like, 'This is amazing. I didn't know that there was a comedy show here,’” said Asher. “There's even a core group of students who come to like two or three shows a month."
The comedy festival will give 200 comedians the chance to bring laughs across the five boroughs. The Arthur Avenue show will be bringing comedians to Clinton Hall every Wednesday after the festival.
