The Department of Sanitation began its annual curbside collection of Christmas trees on Wednesday.
The department will be picking up any tree left out on the street from now until Saturday, Jan. 12.
Anyone leaving their tree out for pickup should remove stands, lights and ornaments.
The trees will be chipped up, mixed with leaves and then recycled into compost that will be used at parks and gardens all around the city.
