The NYC Health Department announced on Friday it ended its investigation into the cluster of Legionnaires' disease in the Highbridge community.

The department said in a release that no new cases of the disease were identified in local residents with symptom onset in the last four weeks.

Thirty cases of the disease had been associated with this cluster, and 28 people were hospitalized. Twenty-four of those people were discharged. Two people died from the disease.

“Thank you to the dozens of elected officials and community leaders who worked with the department to inform residents in the area about proper precautions,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan. “The department’s investigation was able to identify one cooling tower that had a genetic match with patient specimens, and the cooling tower was ordered to take additional cleaning and disinfection measures.”
