Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Sunday that 500 non-medical positions are available at New York City Health + Hospitals due to the strain from coronavirus.
The positions are temporary and include maintenance and housekeeping service aides, clerical associates, mortuary technicians, patient escorts and food service aides.
De Blasio says that most of the positions have no requirements, meaning a high school diploma is not needed. He also says people will start with a 90-day assignment working anywhere from 20 to 30 hours.
The pay starts at about $20 an hour, and the mayor says the city is seeking to fill these positions immediately.
De Blasio says thousands of more positions are expected to open up.
