Carmen Rosas was back at the hospital Monday after she had hysterectomy last March, but this time, her neighbor is the patient. Rosas said her experience was so good, she wanted to spread the care.
“The doctor, the equipment they got, it helped me out a lot with my surgery and I could recommend it to another female that's going through a process,” she says.
City Council Member Rafael Salamanca Jr. says the city is allocating $3.2 million to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln to improve ultrasound machines, neonatal devices and surgical X-ray equipment.
Alan Kantor, the chair of Radiology at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, says the money is vital for a public hospital.
“Without that type of support, we couldn't survive,” he says.
One of the ultrasounds at the hospital is a decade old, and it is among eight that are going to be replaced thanks to the new funding.
Hospital CEO Christopher Roker says the new equipment will be received and put into use in the next six to eight weeks.
