Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection have announced that delivery apps will face penalties for violating New York City’s minimum pay law.

Uber Eats, Fantuan and Hungry Panda are among the businesses now required to pay restitution.

Officials say Uber Eats will pay over $3.1 million to over 48,000 workers and reinstate up to 10,000 drivers who were wrongfully deactivated.

Fantuan and Hungry Panda are also paying thousands to workers they are accused of underpaying.

Mamdani and other city officials say this is part of a broader crackdown on delivery apps that shortchange workers.
