Mayor Eric Adams announced Thursday that fares for single riders on the ferry will increase to $4 per trip in September.
That is a significant upcharge from the regular $2.75 fare single riders are used to.
However, Mayor Adams says riders will be able to buy a 10-ride pack for $27. 50 which equals $2.75 a ride.
The mayor also announced that fees for seniors, the disabled and low-income New Yorkers will now be $1.35 per ticket.
In addition, people will no longer have to pay a fee to bring their bicycle onto the ferry.
Mayor Adams says these moves are being made to help get more New Yorkers take advantage of the waterway transportation system.
