A New York City nonprofit is teaching the art of making food to returning veterans.

“Project Renewal’s” culinary arts program is a six-month initiative open to formerly incarcerated individuals and those experiencing homelessness.

"Being in the project renewal culinary it gave me that pride again where I can give back to community helping those that are less fortunate,” said veteran Richard Ralph.

Project Renewal staff says a staggering 90% of the employees there have emerged from the culinary program.
