The New York City Health Department and New York City Public Schools are reminding families to have their children vaccinated ahead of the school year.
Officials say all public and private school students are required to vaccinated for measles, mumps, rubella, polio, chickenpox, whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus and hepatitis B.
Children enrolled in childcare and pre-K are also required to be vaccinated against several diseases.
Officials are also asking parents to schedule their children for a physical exam and submit all required medical forms to schools.
Health officials say 95% of children are up to date on their vaccines by the time they begin kindergarten.
