9h agoNYCHA Chairman Gregory Russ announced Thursday he will be stepping down after nearly 3 1/2 years with the agency.
Russ leaves behind a somewhat controversial legacy. He was once known to earn an unusually large salary of $414,000 - $430,000 when he served as both NYCHA CEO and chair.
He was hired by former Mayor Bill de Blasio and took on the role while commuting from his home in Minnesota to a home in Tribeca. His salary was cut nearly in half after his CEO role was dropped amid the wake of the arsenic water scare last year at the Jacob Riis houses in Manhattan.
His last day will be Friday, Feb. 10. Russ will be replaced by an interim chair.
