Police say a 16-year-old girl accidentally shot herself in the eye while playing with her boyfriend's loaded gun.

They say they were called to an apartment in Mount Eden Friday afternoon and found the victim with a gunshot wound to her left eye.

She was taken to an area hospital for treatment but is expected to survive.

Her boyfriend is facing weapons charges.
