NYPD: 17-year-old arrested for stealing car, fleeing police and crashing in East Flatbush

Authorities say an NYPD license plate scanner identified the car as stolen at around 9 a.m. Friday.

A 17-year-old boy is facing charges after being accused of stealing a Mercedes, fleeing police and crashing the vehicle Friday in East Flatbush.
Authorities say an NYPD license plate scanner identified the car as stolen at around 9 a.m.
Police attempted to stop the suspect in East Flatbush hours later. However, the boy sped off and then crashed into five cars before attempting to flee on foot.
The suspect was ultimately arrested. Authorities say the charges against him include grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and reckless endangerment.
