A 17-year-old girl was fatally stabbed in Soundview on Thursday afternoon, according to the NYPD.
Law enforcement officials have identified the victim as Emery Mizelle, 17.
Police say that the victim was stabbed once in the chest outside of 1105 Boynton Ave. just after 2 p.m. The victim was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Sources say that there are three people in custody at this time. None of the people have currently been charged. Police say that one of the suspects in custody is a 16-year-old.
Exclusive surveillance video shows that the incident stemmed from a physical fight that turned deadly fast. It shows two girls in front of the apartment entrance when a third girl runs up from the sidewalk and a fight breaks out.
Seconds later, three others join in on the fight. It remains unclear which one of them pulled the knife that took Mizelle's life.
"I seen her this morning she didn’t seem too happy she looked upset, I don’t know she said she had a fight," said local resident Wilfredo.
Neighbors tell News 12 that the victim was a student of James Monroe High School.
