A 2-year-old girl was robbed for her jewelry in Cypress Hills, according to the NYPD. The NYPD says a 2-year-old girl was robbed inside a laundromat with her grandmother in Cypress Hills.
They say it happened inside Laundryland Super Laundromat around 11:30 p.m. Monday.
News 12 was told a woman walked up to the toddler and ripped the chain from her neck then ran off.
Police say the toddler is OK, and that they have released a photo of the woman responsible.
"I've been going to this laundromat for years I never experienced nothing like that before so it's kind of shocking to me to me that somebody would even do that to a 2-year-old," said a community member who did not want to be named.
"Fortunately, I think in general people feel relatively safe walking up and down this block just seeing people coming and going but it's going to make people more nervous now," said another resident.
Anyone with information is urged to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
