Police say they have arrested the woman in connection to the fatal slashing of another woman at a house party in Williamsbridge.

Officers say 37-year-old Ashley Smith, of Mount Vernon, confronted 32-year-old Jalessa Richardson at a house party on Oakley Street. Richardson is accused of slashing Smith in the neck before running away.

Smith was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where she died.

Neighbors told News 12 crews who were at the scene where the fatal stabbing took place that they believe a fight that broke out at the party lead to the killing.

Richardson was arrested and charged with murder in the second degree, manslaughter in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
