Police say an 8-year-old boy is dead and multiple other family members are injured in Queens.

Police responded to a 911 call at the family's apartment and found the suspect holding his father in a headlock with a knife to his throat. An 8-month-old baby was also in the apartment, but wasn't hurt.

Officers say they repeatedly asked him to drop the knife and when he didn't, officers shot him. The suspect was taken to the hospital where he later died.

According to the NYPD, an 8-year-old boy and a 29-year-old woman, who they believe is the mother, were stabbed. The woman was able to escape and call for help. The boy was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Officers believe the boy may be the brother or step-brother of the suspect.
