NYPD: Body found with bag tied around head at construction site in the Bronx
Police are continuing their investigation into the gruesome discovery of a woman's dead body found at a construction site in Mott Haven on Thursday.
Police say the body was found at 355 Exterior St. about 7:30 a.m. Sources say a crane operator at the site discovered the body under garbage and reportedly said it was already decomposing.
Police tell News 12 there was a bag over the woman's head. An evidence marker could be seen on one of the piles of tires and trash as police did a crime scene scan of the area. The medical examiner is determining the cause of death. People nearby say the area is sketchy.
"Strange is a compliment. It's weird over here at night. Weird. People that like to party and sometimes they party a little too hard and they party with stuff they can't handle. And you know what happens after that. Sometimes they make it, sometimes they don't," says neighbor Michael McGriff.
News 12 reached out to the Lightstone Group, who is overseeing construction at the site, for a statement. They have yet to respond.
