Police found a pressure cooker in a stolen car in Parkchester Monday after responding to reports of a suspicious package.
They secured the area around Castle Hill, Olmstead and Starling avenues during the investigation. Several stores and apartment buildings were evacuated as police secured the scene.
Officers at one point asked a News 12 crew and residents in the neighborhood to move back from where they were working.
But the device turned out to be an ordinary pressure cooker, nothing explosive.
Police continue to search for whoever stole the car to begin with.
