The NYPD has identified the machete and butcher knife-wielding suspect of a Tuesday shooting in East New York.
Police say 30-year-old James Olla came at police officers with a machete and a butcher knife. After multiple attempts to get Olla to drop the knives, an officer fired two rounds of their weapon, according to police.
Authorities were searching for Olla who police say was on a violent streak. Olla is accused of assaulting one of his own family members as well as threatening one of his neighbors with a machete near Lots Avenue where Olla lived.
Both Olla and those officers were taken to hospitals.
Olla is facing a slew of charges that include attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing a police officer.
