NYPD lay to rest auxiliary officer who served department for 69 years

Auxiliary Police Lt. Shirley Ohlgren died in November at 94 years old after serving the department for 69 years.

The longest serving auxiliary police officer was escorted by the NYPD to her final resting place in Sunset Park Saturday.
Auxiliary Police Lt. Shirley Ohlgren died in November at 94 years old after serving the department for 69 years.
When she died, she still served the department as a lieutenant within the 68th auxiliary police unit in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights.
NYPD officers escorted Ohlgren’s casket in Brooklyn from the funeral home to the cemetery.
Colleagues say her loyalty and service to the city will never be forgotten.
