NYPD: Man, 11-year-old boy injured when bullets fly through their car in Morrisania
Law enforcement sources believe that a group of men who were near some Citi Bikes by the intersection of East 163rd Street and Washington Avenue were the intended targets of the gunfire.
Police are searching for two shooters who fired shots into a passing vehicle and injured an adult and a child in Morrisania.
According to the NYPD, the two victims were not the intended targets.
Law enforcement sources believe that a group of men who were standing in front of Boricua College by the intersection of East 163rd Street and Washington Avenue were the intended targets of the gunfire.
Police say that around 4:40 p.m., two shooters came from outside of a nearby fence and began shooting before getting on the Citi Bikes and fleeing the scenetowarda nearby building.
The bullets from the shooting struck a passing vehicle.
Sources say the driver, a 20-year-old man, was struck by a bullet in the shoulder. The passenger, an 11-year-old boy, was grazed by glass during the incident.
The driver pulled over near 150th Street and Courtlandt Avenue and was transported to Lincoln hospital by ambulance.
Police sources say a person of interest is being questioned.
