NYPD: Off-duty officer involved in shooting on White Plains Road

A shooting broke out in Williamsbridge involving an off-duty NYPD officer near a local business, according to police.

A shooting that involved an off-duty NYPD officer occurred inside a Williamsbridge store on Thursday, according to police. 
Officials say at around 3 p.m., a 42-year-old man entered the store at 4062 White Plains Road and got into a dispute with the off-duty officer who was in the Hollywood Touch of Class furniture store.
The officer fired his weapon once, striking the 42-year-old man in the left arm and grazing him in the chest. The man was taken to Jacobi Hospital and is expected to survive, according to officials. 
Investigators are currently working to determine how the gun went off. The off-duty officer went to Jacobi Hospital to check on the 42-year-old man who was shot, according to police. 
Sources say that the officer was a new graduate from the police academy.
