Some NYPD officers were honored for saving the life of a little boy who was shot in the Bronx.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. was on hand to give citations of merit to members of Police Service Area 7, including Lt. Eric Dym.
Dym used his belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding when Omari Millien, 5, and his father were shot in the Butler Houses last week.
Omari's father, Jaquan Millien, died, but a close family friend says both of them could have lost their lives if it wasn't for Dym.
"I told him, 'You are my superhero,' and he told me he wants to be a cop," says Dym. "And that solidifies why we do what we do."
Omari is still recovering in a hospital with a sling on his arm.
Police are still searching for the shooter and continue to investigate whether Omari and his father were the intended targets.
