NYPD detectives remembered 8 years after ambush killing in Brooklyn

Detectives Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were sitting in their patrol car in Brooklyn on Dec. 20, 2014 when a gunman walked up to the passenger side and shot both officers -- killing them.

Today marks eight years since two NYPD detectives were killed in an ambush in Brooklyn while on duty.
Detectives Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were sitting in their patrol car in Brooklyn on Dec. 20, 2014.
Authorities say that is when a gunman walked up to the passenger side and shot both officers -- killing them.
A memorial plaque is now dedicated to them at the 84th Precinct, where they both worked.
